My husband and I adopted a three-year old Alaskan-malamute- shepherd mix named Kodiak from the shelter and since he was a stray, we had no history on him.  He was well-behaved for the first few days, but then had a “meltdown” and ripped up the carpet by the door in the room where we kept him during the day while we were at work.

I thought I had adopted a dog that had “separation anxiety issues”, so I hired Maria to help. Maria educated us about Kodiak’s behavior and told us that boredom was the cause, not separation anxiety. Maria crate-trained Kodiak in five days, and also helped us learn how to teach Kodiak basic commands. She provided us with “Recommended Reading” lists and we all had homework assignments.

Kodiak’s behavior is much improved, and we now know, thanks to Maria, that our language and actions must be consistent when we give the commands to Kodiak. Maria’s help was invaluable because her skills enabled Kodiak to become acclimated to our environment much more quickly than he would have without her assistance.

Sincerely,
Elaine, Bruce, and “Kody”
